SAS is very good option to choose as Career Option whereas it is not right option to choose to get job and let me tell you why?

While searching for job we start searching for options where we can get jobs. We start talking to our friends, we search on google and we go to various institutes then if somebody tell us name of any technology then we decide to learn that technology to get job. Now we start getting thoughts whether learning SAS will be good for me, what future it is having? what salary package I will get?

Today we are going to tell you actual picture of what organizations are asking for. You cannot learn anything at your own and start searching for job. You need to prepare yourself for a job role which will help you to grab job easily. Choosing SAS jobs as career is good for you but you need to learn more technologies and techniques to secure your future with SAS jobs

To get job you should not run behind learning any technology which is suggested by anybody else. You must prepare your self for job profile. and SAS is the technology which is used by Data Scientists or Data Analysts and Now you to get job you must prepare yourself for those job profile and learn whatever they use.

Let me give you once example, suppose you want to hire one maid for your home. then will you hire any maid who knows to prepare mango shake only? or you will hire maid you knows everything like preparing vegetables, all kind of sweets, and mainly whatever you eat in your home, you will hire that maid you knows to prepare all things which you eat. Same way company will hire you only when you know all technologies whatever you need to use to complete project. You will be aligned to project where you will complete all task as per client requirement.

Suppose if maid will learn to prepare only milk shake and think that it is tasty and easy to make. but after learning that she will end up getting no job anywhere. because nobody require that. only mango shake vendor can hire but he will also ask do you know to prepare caret juice etc.

Same way companies are asking for multi talented employees. They need employee who can complete end to end project. and no institute will tell you this because if they are teach SAS they will say that SAS is good because if they will tell you this then you will be gone from their profit. 

Mainly any data analytics project require 3 kind of work, 1. Data Processing, 2. Data Prediction or Forecasting and 3. Data Visualization. Some company can have requirement of Data Processing and Data Visualization only. It depends on company to company. Now we need to know what all these 3 steps are to understand job role for which we need to prepare ourself.

1. Data Processing

Now Lets discuss what you should learn. For data Processing there are software/tools are available in market 1. SAS (it is paid) 2. R (it is free) 3. Python (It is also free)

Now you do not need to worry about free and paid because company will not ask you to pay license cost of SAS to work on SAS. Company will ask their client if they want you to work on SAS. Same way if client is not ready to pay huge cost for SAS then they will ask to work on Python or R.

Companies are also like us. If we are super rich then we will buy 1cr Audi or 5 cr Rolls Royce. but if we are from middle class then we will go to Car which suits our pocket. Same way if company is big and rich then they want premium work then they go for SAS. There are lots more other factors as well like if company want premium support then SAS is good. Same way Python is selected if company want you to work on open source solution where they do not need to pay cost of software.

Now what should you learn?

You must learn combination of SAS + (R or Python) because there are more services based companies in the world and if client will ask for SAS then your orgnization will ask you to work on SAS and same way if Client is asking for Python then your organization will ask you to work on Python or R. It is like that we can’t help it. You can search same in any job portal and Job Description will tell you actual picture.

2. Data Prediction or Forecasting

Based on project to project requirement if there is requirement of forecasting future values then you must have knowledge of Machine Learning or Time Series forecasting. SAS jobs, Pyhon jobs or R jobs includes the prediction or forecasting as job role.

Let me give you one example suppose if you are company owner then you would like to know that how many employees you will have to hire in next coming 6 months because if you know number of employees you need to hire in future then you will plan for other things as well like buying laptop, order chairs , expand office if you have smaller space, and same way you need to take lots of decision.

You will not do like hire 600 employees after 6 months and go to market to buy laptop and ask shop keeper that I am big customer and buying 600 laptop and give me good discount. and what your employees will do till the time you buy new laptops. It seems bit silly as well. Therefore you will have to use Time Series Forecasting to know number of employees to be hired before 6 months and they raise tender to Dell, HP, Lenovo and Asus about 600 laptops which you need 6 months later. Now you will have time to negotiate laptop prices with Laptop organization and you will end up cracking good deal for you. Same thing will happen for Office space as well. like you will not hire 600 employee and take them to search new office place. You will have take office space in advance :).

3. Data Visualization

Now suppose you have prepare tasty milk shake but you are not serving that in clean class. and not give spoon or straw and not adding some cherry & ice cream then your customer will not give you money and defame you as well. What do we mean here? It does not matter that how good work you have done if you are not able to show your work in proper way then you good work is wasted. Presentation of your task always matters to make your project sucessfull.

In organizational language presenting data is called Data Visualization. Data Visualization is done in various software solutions such as Tableau, Power BI, Excel, QlikView, QlikSense, Sportfire, D3.js.

Tableau and Power BI, Excel are used most in organization. You can learn either Tableau or Power BI because companies are not asking both right now. If in future they will ask for both then you will have to learn both like we learn data processing software as well in combinations SAS + Python or SAS + R.

Just to summarize to grab job in data analytics, data scientist, data analyst or any name you need to learn at least SAS + Python + Tableau + Excel or SAS + R + Tableau +Excel. obviously you can learn Power BI if you do not want to learn Tableau. But right now Tableau is market leader that is why I wrote Tableau.
